New Branding for HAK & Affiliates

New Branding for HAK & Affiliates

The Housing Authority of Kingstree (HKA) rebranded fall 2017 with three new logos: Kingstree Housing Authority, Kingstree Housing Development Company, a non-profit affiliate of HAK & Kingstree Community Enrichment, a non-profit affiliate of HAK. The Kingstree Housing Development Company will manage the housing properties while the Kingstree Community Enrichment non-profit will create programs for the residents. Some of the programs in development will benefit residents of all ages.

Each logo features a white pine, in honor of the large white pine that the City of Kingstree was named for. The Wikipedia entry for Kingstree SC notes that the original town was laid out as Williamsburg by the Lord Proprietors in colonial times. But a lone, unusually large white pine was found along the Black River.  Since tall white pines were ideal for use as masts for ships, it was claimed by the British Crown on behalf of the King. The broad arrow mark was carved into the tree to prevent any colonists from cutting it. Though white pines are native to the Appalachians as far south as Georgia, it is the only tree of King George’s ever found in the South. Over time, the county kept the name Williamsburg, but the county seat became known as The King's Tree, giving rise to its modern name.

The goal of the new logo designs was to incorporate the very familiar black & yellow public-school colors and tie the look of all three entities together. The new logos are easily identifiable & easy to read. Importantly, the new logos will be easy to reproduce on a variety of marketing/promotional products to further promote HAK & the two affiliates.

The logo designs were created by Brooks Jeffrey Marketing, Inc. (www.BrooksJeffrey.com) and will be used in all marketing and public relations for HKA.
